How to get your gif under 500KB
Say you made your basic gif, but it turns out it’s over 500KB. There’s a few things you can do to get your gif under 500KB.
1. Change the dither or the amount of colours.
Go to File—>save for web and devices. You can change the dither %. Changing it from 100% to 99% usually makes a huge difference in the size of the file, but hardly does anything to the quality of your gif. You can also change your colours from 256 to 128.

2. Darkening your gif
Another way to reduce the size of your gif, is to darken it. You can do this by adding layers on top of your last frame/layer of your gif. Go to Layer—>new adjustment layer

- Brightness/ contrast: You can lower the brightness to darken your gif. You can also increase the contrast.

Before:

after:

-Levels: You can play around with the levels to darken your gif

Before:

After:

-Curves: Just play around with the curves a bit, until you find something that you like

-Exposure: Decrease the exposure to darken your gif

3. Reducing the amount of frames
If you don’t want to darken your gif, or it didn’t reduce the size of your gif enough, you can always try deleting some of the frames of your gif. Removing every 2nd or 3rd frame is always an option, or deleting frames that you don’t need in the gif.
These are just a few ways to reduce the size of your gif. Hope it helped!
